an evening of fine choral and instrumental music

The 54 voice Shrine of the Ages Choir from Northern Arizona University School of Music will be performing at Turramurra Uniting Church on the evening of Thursday 24 May 2007, at 7:30 pm.

Shrine of the Ages Choir is a large, select, mixed ensemble of sophomore through graduate singers chosen by audition. The choir is dedicated to the study and performance of outstanding choral repertoire. The Shrine of the Ages Choir has been featured at national and regional American Choral Directors Association conventions and has produced several CD recordings.

They will be joined by the Master Chorale of Flagstaff, an auditioned ensemble also based at Northern Arizona University, and consisting of community singers as well as faculty, students and staff of the university.

These choirs are touring Australia and New Zealand under the direction of conductor Dr. Edith A. Copley. This is their only Sydney concert.

Also performing will be students and choir from Wesley Institute, Sydney, under the direction of Dr. David Johnston.

The evening will conclude with the three choirs massed together - a truly special choral experience!

Program

The touring repertoire includes both a cappella and accompanied pieces, including pieces by Palestrina, Poulenc, Aaron Copeland and J.S.Bach; Pieces both classical and folk, and concluding with an up-tempo spiritual with multiple soloists.

Program details to be advised
